This FREE community concert is led by Conductor Fung Ho. Fung Ho was a former Concertmaster for the Burbank Chamber Orchestra and West LA Symphony. He is the conductor of the Pasadena Young Musicians Orchestra (PYMO), currently on the violin faculty at CalState LA and on the faculty at Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.
This concert includes local talents of the San Gabriel Valley in conjunction with the Centennial Celebration of the City of San Gabriel. Featured performers include Celia Liu (pictured bottom left), well known professional pipa player who can be heard on the Hollywood sound track of Kung Fu Panda, 13 year old Tiffany Wee, Grand Prize Winner of the American String Teachers Association, Los Angeles Competitions Final this year, and 14 year old cellist Danna Xue.
The concert will also feature world renowned mezzo soprano Suzanna Guzman (pictured bottom right), who was born and raised in San Gabriel and went to San Gabriel Mission School. Ms. Guzmán has sung on concert, recital and opera stages here and abroad with the Metropolitan Opera, Washington National Opera, Dallas Opera, San Diego Opera, Kennedy Center, Houston Grand Opera, Carnegie Hall to name a few.
In addition to stage performance, her voice is familiar to radio audiences as host of many popular radio programs on Classical 105.1 K-Mozart: Opera Notes, Sunday Evening Opera, L.A. Opera, LIVE!. Her many honors include People Magazine en Español Outstanding Latinos in Music.
