In the Fall of 2014, we introduced a new program – the Community Engagement Program, “Engage”.
It’s way a for us to connect with you, and a way for you to connect with the arts and artists.

In October of 2014, we began the program with two theater projects. The first was a production of In Juliet’s Garden, a one-act comedy produced and directed by Program Coordinator Jonathan Salisbury for the San Gabriel Mission High School and presented at the Grapevine Arbor, adjacent to the Playhouse.

Also in October 2014, we worked with the Gabrieleno-Tongva San Gabriel Band of Mission Indians to present the World Premiere of Toypurina, the story of a local Native American Woman who led her people in a rebellion against the San Gabriel Mission in 1785.
