Sept 17 Safety Last at Mission PlayhouseSilent Sundays Series: 1923’s Safety Last! (Sept 17, 2:30pm)

Season 3 of Silent Sundays kicks off Sunday afternoon, September 17th at 2:30pm with Safety Last! starring comic genius Harold Lloyd.  Featuring one of the most iconic scenes in cinema history (Lloyd hanging off the hands of a clock on the side of a skyscraper), Lloyd plays a small town gentleman who moves to the city in the hopes of finding a successful job so he can marry his sweetheart. A stunt to draw attention to the store he works at takes a turn and comedy and suspense ensue above the streets of Downtown LA. Learn more

The Kid at San Gabriel Mission Playhouse Nov 19Silent Sundays Series: 1921’s The Kid (Nov 19, 2:30pm)

Premiering in 1921 at Carnegie Hall, the heartwarming film The Kid features international comedy star Charlie Chaplin and Jackie Coogan. The Kid was Chaplin’s first full length feature film. Directed, written, and produced by Chaplin, he portrays his famous ‘Tramp’ character who finds an abandoned baby that he raises as his own.
