The Mission Playhouse and The Music Circle present Jugalbandi, Saturday evening, September 22nd at 7:00pm.
The rich tapestry of India’s musical arts is highlighted in a concert that unites the Hindustani musical tradition of the North and the Carnatic of the South. Accompanied by a group of leading percussionists, Jugalbandi features Shahid Parvez on the sitar and Lalgudi Krishnan on the violin. The performance provides its audience the rare opportunity of experiencing India’s opulent tonalities and intricate rhythms through a playful musical competition in a duet form called ‘Jugalbandi’. This unique classical interplay between performers has excited audiences since the legendary Ravi Shankar first introduced Indian classical music to Europe and the United States in live performance in the 1960’s.
Concert ticket prices start at $25 (discounts available for students & seniors 65+).
