The City of San Gabriel will host its first-ever Lunar New Year Festival in the city’s historic Mission District, centered around the beautiful Mission Playhouse.
The free community festival will be from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and will offer a unique fusion of the traditional and the modern with a focus on the theme of positive changes and new relationships for the Year of the Ram. The event will feature an opening lion dance, welcoming remarks by elected officials, an outdoor stage with live music, dance and art, food trucks, a beer and wine garden, a tea garden, live calligraphy and fortune telling. There will also be a street festival with more than 50 booths for merchants, local businesses, community organizations and restaurants.
At the conclusion of the festival from 6:00pm-8:00 pm, attendees can watch a free screening of the documentary Linsanity: The Movie. A Q&A session with producer Brian Yang will follow the film. For more information, go to www.SGLunarNewYear.org.
