Silent Sundays Series: Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (1920)

October 2, 2022 @ 2:30 pm

Fall events at the Playhouse kick off with our Silent Sundays screening of the 1920 classic horror film, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, starring John Barrymore on October 2nd at 2:30pm!

Set in 19th century London, Henry Jekyll is a physician and philanthropist, a well respected member of society who cares for the poor.

Jekyll becomes transfixed with the idea of separating the two natures in man, “to yield to every evil impulse, yet leave the soul untouched” and begins experiments which have dire consequences.

Accompanying the film on our Mighty Wurlitzer theater pipe organ is Russ Peck. Mr. Peck currently performs at San Diego Symphony Hall/Jacobs Music Center for their silent film presentations and is house organist at San Diego’s Balboa Theatre.

Our series continues on December 4th with our last screening of the year, comic great Harold Lloyd’s 1923 film, Girl Shy.

Tickets are $12. There are 2 ways to purchase a ticket:

1) Visit the Playhouse Box Office Thursdays from 3:00pm-7:00pm or day of show starting at 1:00pm. If you wait until the day of the show to purchase tickets at our Box Office, please come early. Our Box Office opens 90 minutes before a show begins.

2) Visit ticketmaster.com (**online orders are subject to additional service & processing fees**)

This event is presented in partnership with the Los Angeles Theatre Organ Society.
