Our current season of Silent Sundays comes to a close with comic great Harold Lloyd’s 1924 film, Girl Shy, on December 4th at 2:30pm.
Lloyd plays Harold Meadows, an apprentice in his Uncle’s tailor shop, who is very shy around women. When not in the shop, he is an author writing a book on the secrets of love.
Hoping to get a book deal, he hops on a train to visit a publisher where he meets the sweet Mary Buckingham (Jobyna Ralston). Will he be lucky in love?
The film’s exciting, action packed finale, which has Lloyd racing through the streets of LA, is “a sequence that ranks among the most inventive of Lloyd’s career and demonstrates his expert comic timing and technical brilliance.” (tcm.com)
Accompanying the film on our Mighty Wurlitzer theater pipe organ is Mark Herman. An American Theatre Organ Society Organist of the Year, Mr. Herman tours throughout the country and has performed abroad in Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
