Silent Sundays Series: The Complete Metropolis

July 28 @ 2:30 pm

Silent Sundays at the Playhouse continue with The Complete Metropolis, Sunday afternoon, July 28th at 2:30pm!

Set in a futuristic urban dystopia, this film follows Freder, the wealthy son of Metropolis’ powerful ruler and Maria, a poor worker, as they try to overcome the vast gulf separating the classes of their city. A must see for any sci-fi fan, Metropolis influenced pop culture and many sci-fi films thereafter. With tens of thousands of extras, vast sets, groundbreaking special effects, and over one million dollars spent, this film is a visual masterpiece.

Accompanying the film is organist Russ Peck. Mr. Peck currently performs at San Diego Symphony Hall/Jacobs Music Center for their silent film presentations and is house organist at San Diego’s Balboa Theatre. In addition to being an organist, he is principal timpanist for the Tifereth Israel Community Orchestra.

Our series continues with Go West starring Buster Keaton on September 29th and Harold Lloyd’s Hot Water on October 13th.

Tickets are $12. There are two ways to purchase tickets:

1) In person– Visit the Playhouse Box Office Thursdays from 3:00pm-7:00pm or day of show starting at 1:30pm.
