SAN GABRIEL MISSION PLAYHOUSE
320 SOUTH MISSION DRIVE
SAN GABRIEL, CALIFORNIA 91776
After Thanksgiving dinner and Black Friday shopping, end your holiday week with a Sunday afternoon at the movies! On November 28th at 2:30pm, we will be screening Charlie Chaplin’s 1925 classic, The Gold Rush, which “charts a prospector’s search for fortune in the Klondike and his discovery of romance.”
In his journey hoping to strike it rich, the Lone Prospector (Chaplin) encounters many obstacles including a grizzly bear, an outlaw, hunger and the powerful force of Mother Nature. “Featuring timeless gags as the dance of the dinner rolls and the meal of boiled shoe leather, The Gold Rush is an indelible work of heartwarming hilarity” (criterion.com).
With a cost of over $900,000, Chaplin spared no expenses. It was the film that Chaplin stated he would most like to be remembered by and remains “one of cinema’s enduring classics, starring, written, and directed by the twentieth century’s first media superstar.” (tcm.com).
Ticket prices start at $10 ($12 day of show). A new season of Silent Sundays begins in January 2022 (more details coming soon!)
