Kicking off our new season is Buster Keaton’s first feature length film, the 1923 comedy Three Ages, February 27th at 2:30pm. In its opening scene, Father Time turns the page of a book which reads: “If you let your mind wander back through history, you will find that the only thing that has not changed since the world began is love. Love is the unchanging axis on which the world revolves.”
In the film, you’ll follow Buster Keaton’s character through three eras: The Stone Age, Ancient Rome, and the roaring 20s, as he tries to woo the girl he loves. In his way however, in each period, is a formidable rival (Wallace Beery). Will Buster gain the affection of his leading lady through time?
Accompanying the film is organist Russ Peck. Mr. Peck currently performs at San Diego Symphony Hall/Jacobs Music Center for their silent film presentations and is house organist at San Diego’s Balboa Theatre. In addition to being an organist, he is principal timpanist for the Tifereth Israel Community Orchestra.
